Dr. Simone Mender successfully completes her PhD at our chair.
We are pleased to announce that our chair member, Dr. Simone Mender, has successfully completed her PhD. Her dissertation is entitled "Spectral and Spatial Analysis of MAGIC Telescope Data in a Standardized Format". We would like to congratulate her on this important achievement!
The MAGIC telescopes on the Canary Island of La Palma are used to study high-energy gamma particles from space. The observations made by these telescopes are analyzed to gain insight into the sources of these particles. For this purpose, the observational data must be converted into a standardized data format that contains all relevant information. The uniformity of the data format ensures that the scientific results obtained are reproducible and comparable with the results of other astrophysicists. As part of her Ph.D. thesis, Dr. Simone Mender performed spectral analyses of MAGIC observations of two radio galaxies and collaborated with other astrophysicists on the AutoMAGIC software, which converts the observational data into the aforementioned standardized format.
