With the neutrino telescope IceCube, the first evidence of high-energy neutrino emissions from NGC 1068, also known as Messier 77, an active galaxy in the constellation Cetus and one of the best-known and best-studied galaxies of all, has been found. Scientists from Dortmund contributed to this result by developing methods for data analysis and data simulation. The results were published in the journal Science on 4 November 2022.
