Master's student Cyrus Pan Walther, who was appointed to the Fellow of the International Science Council.

The International Science Council catalyzes scientific expertise and advice worldwide on issues of major concern to science and society and has been working closely with UNESCO for many years.

Our research group member, Cyrus Pan Walther is appointed as the, by now, youngest Fellow of the International Science Council for his outstanding contributions to promoting science as a global public good. Besides him, 11 other scientists researching and working in Germany were honoured as Fellows. Apart from Cyrus P. Walther, only two other physicists in the world have been nominated for the Fellowship by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics.

The Fellowship of the International Science Council is the highest honour that can be conferred to an individual by the organization and is awarded to outstanding social and natural scientists and engineers who have made significant contributions to science and society.

In addition to his research in the field of astroparticle physics in the research groups of Prof. Dr. Dr. Wolfgang Rhode and PD Dr. Dominik Elsässer at the Faculty of Physics of the TU Dortmund University, Cyrus Pan Walther serves as the President of the International Association of Physics Students since 2022 and is a board member of the International Science Council's Commission on Data since 2023. He is also the Vice-Chair of the Working Group on Physics and Industry of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics.
