Prof. Christian Glaser, a professor in our research group, has received the Bergstedt Prize 2026 of the Royal Society of Sciences in Uppsala. The award recognises his innovative and internationally acclaimed pioneering work on the radio detection of ultra-high-energy neutrinos. It was presented at a ceremony in Uppsala on 1 September 2026 and includes SEK 25,000.
Prof. Glaser develops radio detection methods to study high-energy cosmic neutrinos and cosmic rays. His research combines measurements in ice with machine learning to identify rare signals and improve the performance of future neutrino detectors. Earlier this year, he also received the Wallmark Prize of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
The Bergstedt Prize is the Society’s second-oldest award. It originates from a bequest dated 12 May 1827 by the Swedish diplomat and State Secretary Erik Bergstedt. His will placed scientific talent, ability and character at the heart of the award, irrespective of a recipient’s social background or wealth.
The Royal Society of Sciences in Uppsala is Sweden’s oldest scientific academy, founded in 1710 and granted royal status in 1728. Its history reflects a longstanding commitment to scientific exchange across disciplines and national borders.
We warmly congratulate Prof. Christian Glaser on this well-deserved recognition of his research!
